GENERAL INFORMATION

A. ADMISSION

  1. University Structure

    • The University operates on a semester basis.

    • A semester typically lasts sixteen (16) weeks.

    • There are two semesters in each academic year.

    • The University offers various programs:

      • Bachelor of Technology (BTECH)

      • Higher National Diploma

      • Tertiary Diploma

      • Non-Tertiary programmes

  2. Admission Policies

    • Admission is granted for a specific academic year.

    • Candidates who fail to enroll in the year they were admitted or who withdraw without prior permission from the University forfeit their admission.

  3. Financial Considerations for Admission

    • Admission is contingent upon payment of the required fees.

    • There is no Financial Aid provided with admission; however, qualified students may apply for assistance through the Student Loan Trust Scheme.

    • The University provides support to some needy continuing students annually.

  4. Verification of Admission

    • The offer of admission is conditional upon verification of certificates and results from certifying institutions.

    • Any discrepancies found in documents may lead to withdrawal of admission and possible prosecution, regardless of the duration of enrollment.

B. ACCEPTANCE OF ADMISSION

  1. Activation of Student Information Portal (SIP)

    • To accept admission, students must activate their SIP by clicking the "Accept" button.

    • This action confirms the review and agreement to the terms and conditions of admission.

    • It signifies formal acceptance and the commitment to adhere to University policies.

C. REGISTRATION

  1. Requirement for Registration

    • Every student must register each semester to maintain official recognition as a student.

    • Failure to register without appropriate permission results in loss of student status.

  2. Course Registration

    • Students are required to register for courses at the beginning of each semester.

    • Late registration beyond the initial period may attract penalties determined by the University.

  3. First-Year Registration Deadline

    • First-year students who fail to register by the end of the first semester's registration period risk having their admission offer voided.

  4. Class List Compilation

    • After the penalty period, students are not permitted to register, and the University will compile class lists for departments.

  5. Name Change Policy

    • Students may not change their registration names without official consent.

D. MEDICAL EXAMINATION

  1. Medical Examination Requirement

    • After registering, first-year students must undergo a medical examination at the University Clinic.

    • Students who do not pass the medical examination will be withdrawn from the program.

  2. Chest X-ray Requirement

    • Students are required to provide a recent Chest X-ray, not older than three months, as part of the medical examination.

E. FEES

  1. Fee Structure for First-Year Students

    • All fees due for the academic year are indicated in the admission letter for first-year students.

    • Students should carefully note the different categories of fees and adhere to the payment directives provided.

  2. Payment Policies for Non-Tertiary Programmes

    • Students in two-year Non-Tertiary programmes, such as Diploma in Business Studies (DBS) or Certificate II, must pay all fees before registering for courses in the first semester of their second year.

  3. Annual Fee Review

    • School fees are subject to annual review after negotiations with the Student Representative Council.

F. ACCOMMODATION

  1. University Accommodation Facilities

    • The University offers on-campus accommodation and several privately owned hostels nearby.

    • Accommodation allocation is determined on a first-come, first-served basis for interested students.

  2. Private Hostel Arrangements

    • Students should contact private hostels directly using the telephone numbers listed on the University’s website.

    • Application forms for all hostels are available at various hostels.

G. ORIENTATION

  1. Orientation Programme

    • An orientation programme for new students will be held upon their arrival on campus to familiarize them with University life.

  2. Importance of Orientation

    • Fresh students are strongly encouraged to attend the orientation programme to receive vital information and interact with University authorities.

  3. Familiarization with University Policies

    • It is the responsibility of students to familiarize themselves with the University Statutes, the Students’ Handbook, and the Students’ Examination Guide, as these documents contain relevant policies applicable during their tenure at Koforidua Technical University.

H. EXTRA-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES

  1. Participation in Extra-Curricular Activities

    • Students are expected to actively participate in all campus activities, particularly those organized specifically for them.
