Employee Training Notes for Bernie’s Beach Bar

Welcome Packet Summary

  • Onboarding Paperwork: Complete before your first training shift. This includes essential personal information, and bringing proper identification (passport preferred or state ID, social security card/birth certificate as alternatives).

  • Parking: No parking provided. Towing in Fleury Group properties. Suggested parking includes staff lot (when accessible) and parking garage across the street.

  • Dress Code:

  • Dark blue or black bottoms (no rips, jeans or jean shorts accepted).

  • Goat shirts, flannels, sweatshirts.

  • Black shoes (entirely black).

  • Red bandana must be visible.

  • Maintain clean and professional hygiene, hair tied back, minimal makeup/jewelry.

  • Personal Items: Store in designated employee lockers. If it doesn't fit, leave in your car and remove all belongings at the end of your shift.

  • Food Policy:

  • Arrive fed to work.

  • Meal must be approved by management before ordering; may be eaten in designated break areas only.

  • Breaks should be taken one at a time.

Training Structure

  • Training Card: Given on day one and must be signed off before progressing to shifts.

  • Shift 1: New hire paperwork, overview of handbook/rules, shadowing.

  • Shift 2: Interact with customers, take orders with supervision.

  • Shift 3: Learn menu and food orders, do a food run.

  • Shift 4: Lead shift handling all responsibilities with trainer assistance.

  • Tests at the end of shift 3:

  • Food test

  • Drink test

  • Pour test

  • Micros test

Steps of Service

  1. Meet and Greet: Approach new tables with a smile within three minutes.
  2. Suggest Appetizers and Take Drink Orders: Engage customers in suggestive selling.
  3. Enter Orders: Use the Micros system while customers review the menu.
  4. Deliver Drinks: Within ten minutes using a tray; assist customers as needed.
  5. Order Entrées: Confirm and repeat orders for accuracy before sending to the kitchen.
  6. Post-Delivery Follow-ups: Ask for drink refills and additional needs while pre-bussing tables.
  7. Suggest Dessert: Recommend a specific dessert.
  8. Present Check: Do so with a smile and inform customers of entertainment at other locations.
