Definition: Recognition that objects remain constant despite changing sensory input from their retinal images.
This allows stable perception even when stimuli change due to movement, orientation, or light variations.

Types of Perceptual Constancy

Size Constancy: Recognition that an object maintains its true size regardless of changes in its retinal image due to distance.
Shape Constancy: Recognition that an object maintains its true shape despite changes in its retinal image due to orientation.
Color Constancy: Recognition that an object maintains its true color despite changes in the amount of light falling on it.
