Surface Area and Phase

More Surface area = Higher reaction rate (only heterogeneous reactions)

Controls the ability of reactants to meet

Homogeneous Reactions: all reactants are the same phaseHeterogeneous Reactions: reactants are in different phases (this includes immiscible liquids)

Catalyst and Inhibitors

Catalyst increases the reaction rate but is not consumed

Inhibitor reacts with Catalysts to slow down reaction rate so that reaction does not happen
