Factions in Edwards council:
-Key Reformers: Dudley and somerset
-Reformers dominated regency
-as lord protector somerset was able to increase personal wealth and power which lead to mass opposition of council members
-Anti Somerset Faction:
-feared somersets sympathy for commoners and policies on enclosure and was the reason for summer unrest in 1549.
-Edward disliked somerset.
Fall of somerset:
Due to un rest in 1549 many councilors disliked him
October 5th 1549 somerset takes Edward and issues general summons to defend Edward which was seen as an act of revolt
6th October somerset retreats to Windsor castle and Edward turns on him and feels like a prisoner and Somerset is arrested
Rise OF NORTHUMBERLAND:
Warwicks role in defeat of ketts rebellion made him likely
allied with reformers and committed to further religious change
released Somerset and restored him to council in hope he would use his influence to support new power.unsuccesful and somerset executed for treason and potential rival for Northumberland was removed
