made up mostly of member of nobility. attending required the Queen’s permission

to entertain and advise the Monarch. member had influence over the Queen but no actual power

Privy Council

approx. 19 members chosen by the Monarch. met at least 3x a week and made up of leading courtiers, advisers and senior government officials

to debate current issues and advise the monarch, monitor JPs and make sure the Monarch’ decisions were carried out

Parliament

made up of House of Lords and House of Commons and could only be called and dismissed by the Monarch. elections were held, but very few could vote

to grant extraordinary taxation (occasional additional tax for unexpected expenses ie, war). to pass laws and offer advice to the Monarch

Lords Lieutenant

each county had a Lord’s Lieutenant selected by the Monarch. normally members of nobility, often members of Privy Council

in charge of raising and training local militia and overseeing the enforcing policies. part of local government

justices of the peace (JPs)

large landowners who kept law and order in local areas. responded to the privy council.

to make sure all social and economic policies carried out. part of the local government and heard county court cases every 3 months.
