Border Gateway Protocol (BGP)

BGP is the routing protocol that ties different autonomous systems together across the Internet

  • It's very common for Internet Service Providers to leave a "Looking Glass" server
    • It’s essentially a router with view-only access and no password protection - wide open for anyone to access via Telnet.  We can run our own trace routes, take a look at routing tables, and gather intelligence as to how our target is connected to the Internet
