Mole Review (I am going to cry)
Molar Mass = The mass of 1 mole of a substance
Molarity
The concentration of a solution is a measure of the amount of solute that is dissolved in a given quantity of solvent.
A dilute solution contains only a small amount of given solute.
A concentrated solution contains a large amount of solute.
Concentration can be measure in various ways. The most commonly used in chemistry is molarity. Molarity is measured in moles/litres. There are three accepted units.
M, mol/L
Formula: M=moles/L
Three possibiles calculations using the molarity formula:
Given moles and volume, calculate molarity
Given concentration and volume, calculate moles
Given concentration and moles, calculate volume
Ionic Charge
The charge an element has when it gains or loses electrons, becoming an ion.
If the element has multiple ionic charges, you need to use basic algebra to solve which charge is involved in a compound.
