Morality Plays
Morality plays were plays that had the porpuse of teaching people how to go to Heaven and how to live life without sinning. They were performed by semiprofessional actors in middle english. All the characters were allegorical so they all represented abstract concepts and they were flat characters. They usually were Death, Love, Good Deed, Wrath, Gluttony, Lust, Sloth, Envy, Pride, Greed (seven deadly sins) and a character Mankind or Everyman.
A morality play is Everyman, made in 1472. The main character meets an angel of god that says to him he’s going to die and he has to make a list of the actions he did in his lifetime. He asks to Love, Hate and ecc. for help but only good deeds remains with him.
