Conditionnel Mood

Formation

• Use infinitive for -er and -ir verbs

• For -re verbs, drop the final e

  • *There are irregular radicals

• Terminaison is the same for imparfait

Uses

• The conditionnel is a mood used to tell what people would do or what would happen

• Used along with ‘si’ and the imparfait to tell what would happen if something else happened or if some condition contrary to reality were met

• i.e.

  • S’il ne pleuvait pas, tu pourrais nager.

  • Nous aurions plus d’argent si nous étions avocats.
