PiE - Party in electorate, the public who can vote,
choose and influence government,
provide workers to organizations
PO - Party Organization,
mobilizes electorate,
recruits candidates for government,
provides campaign resources to government,
Political party - a group of people who seek control of the government by winning elections
Roles of political parties
Nominating
Informer - Stimulator - keep public informed and try to get them to participate in public affairs
Seal of Approval - creates loyalty with a candidate
Gov Function - the parties work together in gov / conduct business on a partisan basis, parties are an agent which gov branches work together
Watchdog - keeps the other party accountable if their party isn’t in office
