Origin And Purpose Of EYFS
EYFS:
purpose - is to ensure that early years settings meet certain standards of education and care.
Statutory - all early years settings and reception classes have to follow it. (0-5 years)
two main sections - learning and development requirements, safeguarding and welfare requirements
Ofsted inspections - looking for how well settings and reception classes are delivering the EYFS
Prime areas: personal, social and emotional development, communication and language development, physical development
Specific areas: literacy, maths, understanding of the world (starting points for teaching history geography and science), expressive arts and design
