7 Skin layers

1. Epidermis (Outer Layer)

  • • The protective outermost layer of the skin.

    • Contains no blood vessels.

    • Primary components:

    • Sweat glands: Regulate temperature and excrete waste.

    2. Dermis (Middle Layer)

    • Thicker layer beneath the epidermis.

    • Contains connective tissues, blood vessels, and nerves.

    • Key components:

    • Fibroblasts: Cells responsible for producing collagen and elastin.

    • Hair follicles: Structures from which hair grows.

    • Lymphatic vessels: Help with immune response and fluid balance.

    3. Hypodermis (Subcutaneous Layer)

    • Deepest layer, consisting of fat and connective tissue.

    • Provides insulation, cushioning, and energy storage.

    • Contains:

    • Blood vessels: Supply nutrients and oxygen to the skin.

    • Adipose tissue: Stores fat for insulation and cushioning.

These layers work together to protect the body, regulate temperature, and maintain hydration.
