Election of 1908: Republicans nominate William Howard Taft. Democrats nominate William Jennings Brian. Taft wins.

Election of 1912: Roosevelt wants to run again, but the Republicans renominate Taft. Roosevelt splits the party and makes the Progressive Party, usually called the Bull-Moose Party. Woodrow Wilson ran for the Democrat. Wilson wins.

Election of 1916: Woodrow Wilson ran for the Democrats and ran on keeping us out of WWI. Charles Evans Hughes ran for the Republicans. Wilson wins.

William Howard Taft: Broke up 80 monopolies in 4 years, famous for getting stuck in the White House bathtub, heaviest president and the last to have facial hair, later became the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court.

Eugene V Debs: Socialist nominee for the Election of 1908.

Teddy Roosevelt: Chose Taft as his successor, but got in conflict with him when he made bad decisions.

Woodrow Wilson: former president of Princeton and governor of New Jersey, married Edith Bolling Golt.

Fielding Yost: American college football player, coach, and athletics administrator.

Upton Sinclair: Wrote The Jungle.

Ida Tarbell: Wrote History of the Standard Oil Company.

Philippe Bunau-Varilla: Manager of the French Panama Canal, signed the Hay-Bunau-Varilla treaty.

Jeanette Rankin:  She was the first woman in Congress. She was elected in 1916. She was from Montana and was a pacifist. In her first term she voted against the US fighting in WWI. She was reelected in 1940 and voted against joining WWII. She was the only person to vote against joining both wars.

Henry Ford: Invented Model T, perfected assembly line.

Franz Ferdinand: Archduke of Austria-Hungary, heir apparent to the throne, his assassination lead to WWI.

Gavrilo Princip: Assassinated Archduke Ferdinand.

16th Amendment: Passed in 1913 and allowed income tax. Was passed to prepare for Prohibition to replace the whiskey tax.

17 Amendment: Passed in 1913 and let people directly elect senators.

Joseph Glidden: Invented barbed wire.
