Medical scanning

A gel is spread over the patient to minimise reflections. An ultrasound pulse is sent into the patient from the probe. When it reaches a boundary some of the ultrasound is reflected back. The time is measured for the pulse to travel to and back to the probe. By moving the probe and image is build up showing the patient’s insides.
