Expressions of Liking
Basic Phrases:
- I like: "I like…" translates to Me gusta… in Spanish.
- You like: "You like…" translates to Te gusta… in Spanish.
- She likes: "She likes…" translates to A ella le gusta… in Spanish.
Usage of "Gusta":
- Use gusta when you are indicating liking something singular or an infinitive action.
- Example: "I like to read" translates to Me gusta leer.
- Use gustan when referring to multiple things.
- Example: "I like the books" translates to Me gustan los libros.
Must and Have to
- Expressions of Necessity:
- You must: Variations include Debes or Tienes que… indicating an obligation.
- Example: "You must study" translates to Debes estudiar.
- You have to have: "You have to have…" translates to Tienes que tener… indicating a necessity for something.
Using "Or" in Choices
- Choice Expressions: Use o (or) when presenting choices.
- Everyone has only the option of gustar or gustar (implied to be singular or multiple based on context).
- Example: "Do you like apples or oranges?" would start with ¿Te gusta… o… ?
