Expressions of Liking

  • Basic Phrases:

    • I like: "I like…" translates to Me gusta… in Spanish.
    • You like: "You like…" translates to Te gusta… in Spanish.
    • She likes: "She likes…" translates to A ella le gusta… in Spanish.
  • Usage of "Gusta":

    • Use gusta when you are indicating liking something singular or an infinitive action.
    • Example: "I like to read" translates to Me gusta leer.
    • Use gustan when referring to multiple things.
    • Example: "I like the books" translates to Me gustan los libros.

Must and Have to

  • Expressions of Necessity:
    • You must: Variations include Debes or Tienes que… indicating an obligation.
    • Example: "You must study" translates to Debes estudiar.
    • You have to have: "You have to have…" translates to Tienes que tener… indicating a necessity for something.

Using "Or" in Choices

  • Choice Expressions: Use o (or) when presenting choices.
    • Everyone has only the option of gustar or gustar (implied to be singular or multiple based on context).
    • Example: "Do you like apples or oranges?" would start with ¿Te gusta… o… ?
