Getting Started

When you rub a ballon against your cloths it will:

• stick to the wall

• defect a stream of water from a tap

• pick up small pieces of water

These things happen because when you rub the ballon, you charge it.

These are examples of electrostatic phenomena. this is something that you can observe.

Charge

There are two types of electric charge, positive (+) charge and negative (-) charge. Charge is a property of a particle or object, like mass.

When you bring charges together, electrostatic attraction or electrostatic repulsion occurs.
