Migration

People are trying to move from smaller, less vibrant economies to more vibrant and viable economies.

Refugees: People that are forced to migrate from their homes and can not go back.

The early human migrated out of east Africa rift valley in modern Tanzania

Protistans, english, french, dutch, Scottish, and east africans taken against their will helped to diversify the United states at the beginning.

First wave: 1607 - 1840

• Western Europeans, and Western africans

• The 30 year war was one of the major push factors leading to migration to the u.s.

Second wave:1840 - 1860

• Irish catholics, and Han Chinese

• Irish poptato famine, and opium wars lead to mass migration

Third wave:1860 - 1890

• European Jews

• Czarist russians forced jews to move out of russia to the US

• Japanese immigrated to the us but FDR put them in concentration camps

Fourth wave: 1890 - 1930

• Poles, Italians, and Filipinos

• Entered the US in huge waves after the spanish american war

Fifth wave: 1945 - present

• East asians and latin Americans

• The cold war conflicts

• Revolution in cuba made alot of cubans migrate to the us

Jim crow laws, caused a great push factor for black people to move to the north

Rural to urban- moving from rural areas to cities

Guest workers- Temporary worker

Forced migration- being forced to move

Incentive migration- Moving for an actual reason (most people did it coming from china to be able to have more babies)

Step and chain migration- One person moves and sends money and resources so that people in their family and friends can use their help to get there too.

Return migration- Moving back to your original country after moving somewhere

Circular migration- Moving from one place to another in periods.
