Grade 8 Science SOL Review Guide Overview

  • The Grade 8 Science SOL Test assesses standards from Grades 6, 7, and 8 Science.

SOL Assessment Program Design

  • All Virginia school divisions must prepare students to demonstrate achievement of the standards by the time they complete the grade levels tested.
      - Goal: Ensure students are ready for the SOL test in Science by covering relevant content from earlier grades (6 and 7).
  • The resources in this guide are designed as additional materials to help prepare students for the SOL test and for targeted intervention.

Instruction and Assessment

  • Tier 1 Instruction: Students should receive instruction following the FCPS Middle School Science curricula.
  • Assessment Data: Teachers should utilize formative and summative assessment data to determine areas where students may need further intervention.

Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) Science Standards

  • The review guide aligns with VDOE standards for Grade 8 Science.
