- Conrad Hilton (1887-1979):
- Purchased Mobley Hotel in 1919.
- Acquired Chicago Hilton, Palmer House, Plaza, and Waldorf=Astoria hotels after World War II.
- Established the first major hotel chain in 1954 by purchasing Statler Hotels.
- Hilton Brands: Hilton Garden Inns, Doubletree, Embassy Suites, Hampton Inns, Harrison Conference Centers, Homewood Suites by Hilton, Red Lion Hotels and Inns, Conrad International.
- Kemmons Wilson:
- Founder of the Holiday Inn chain.
