The McHenry Mansion in Modesto celebrated its 140th anniversary in 2023. Built in 1883 by Robert and Matilda McHenry, it served as an apartment building from 1936 to 1976 after the family moved out. Hyland Gould converted it into 'The Langdon Apartments.' The Crabtree family, who owned it from 1954, used it for both residence and apartments before safety regulations led to tenant eviction. In 1976, the Gallo Foundation bought it and gifted it to Modesto, initiating restoration efforts. Its varied history highlights the mansion's significant role in the community.
