Classification of Epidemics (CPPM)

1. Common-source Epidemics

   • Occur when a group is exposed to a single source of infection.

2. Point source Epidemics

   • Involves exposure to the same source over a short time, leading to a sharp increase in cases.

3. Propagated or Progressive Epidemics

   • Spread from person to person, leading to a gradual rise in cases.

4. Mixed Epidemics

   • Involve a combination of common-source and propagated transmissions.
