Bill of Rights

Amendments to the Constitution: Proposed by Congress and ratified by the legislatures of the Several States, Pursuant to Article V of the Original Constitution.

Amendments I-X, known as the Bill of Rights, were proposed by Congress on September 25, 1789, and ratified on December 15, 1791.

First Amendment: Freedom of religion, of Speech, and of the press

Second Amendment: Right to keep and bear arms

Third Amendment: Quartering of soldiers

Fourth Amendment: Security from unwarrantable search and seizure

Fifth Amendment: Rights of accused persons in criminal proceedings

Sixth Amendment: Right to speedy trial, witnesses, etc.

Seventh Amendment: Trial by jury in civil cases

Eighth Amendment: Bails, Fines, Punishments

Ninth Amendment: Reservation of rights of people

Tenth Amendment: Powers reserved to states or people.
