Gateshead- ensemble shouting Jane’s inner thoughts combined with Jane’s monologue to show her thoughts and feelings
Perspective- Older Jane looking back- switches to monologue to reflect being older
National Theatre’s adaptation
Use proxemics to emphasise power imbalance.
Marriage proposal- Rochester is higher than Jane and looking down on her. Jane higher than him when she had the ability to reject him
Dresses- Jane’s old dress and wedding dress hang before her and she has to pick her future
Bertha- female solidarity. Bertha hands Jane back her old dress, freeing her in a way she can’t free herself.
