Geometry Notes (Points, Lines, and Planes).
Point
A point is an exact location in space, represented by a dot. It has no length, width, or height.
Example: The tip of a pencil touching paper represents a point.
Line
A line is a straight one-dimensional figure that extends infinitely in both directions with no endpoints.
Example: A ruler illustrates a line segment that can continue on either side without end.
Angle
An angle is formed when two rays meet at a common endpoint, called the vertex. Angles are measured in degrees.
Example: The corner of a book creates a right angle, which measures 90 degrees.
Collinear
Points are said to be collinear if they lie on the same straight line.
Example: The points A(1,1), B(2,2), and C(3,3) are collinear because you can draw a straight line through them.
Plane
A plane is a flat two-dimensional surface that extends infinitely in all directions.
Example: A piece of paper represents a plane in geometry; it's flat and has no thickness.
