• Cycle: The People do Evil → The Lord HJudges Israel → Israel Cries Out For Deliverance → The Lord Raises Up A Spirit-Empowered Deliverer

• Judges are a type of Christ, spirit empowered redeemer 

• The Need For More: A King

The Coming of a King

• The Misguided Demand: they rejected the Lords rule 

• The Disobedient King: Saul, “To obey is better than sacrifice”

• The Humble King: David 

• David is a type of Jesus 

• Messiah: Hebrew 

• Christ: Greek, meaning anointed  

• The Davidic Covenant: 2 Samuel 7

• Play on the “House”: Not meaning the temple, but a dynast 

• God Promises David: Dynasty, offspring, and a eternal kingdom
