Patch Bay Ins and Outs

Inputs:
  • Mic In

  • Line In

  • Ch. Ins RTN

  • Stereo FX RTN

  • Record Bus Ins RTN

  • Mix Bus Ins RTN

  • EXT A (1-4)

  • EXT B (1-4)

Outputs:
  • Foldback A/B

Steps to Connect Inputs and Outputs (10 minutes timer)

  • 1-3 left side of the console

  • 4-8 right side of the console

1. Mic In

  • Patch:

    • From BRP (Blu-Ray Player) Out (Left) to SSL Microphone Input (any channel)

  • Action Steps:

    • Hit "flip" to switch from Line Level to Mic Level.

    • Assign it to the Mix/Rec Bus.

    • Raise channel fader.

    • Select the Mix/Rec Bus fader (if not already selected).

    • Bring up MASTER FADER.

    • Select Monitor Source (Mix or Rec).

    • Select Speaker (mini A).

    • Bring up control room monitor level (Return is an input).

2. Line In

  • Patch:

    • From BRP Out to SSL Line Input (any channel).

  • Action Steps:

    • Adjust line Trim.

    • Assign to the Mix/Rec Bus.

    • Raise channel fader.

    • Select the Mix/Rec Bus fader (if not already selected).

    • Bring up Master fader.

    • Select Monitor Source (Mix or Rec).

    • Select Speaker (mini A).

    • Bring up control room monitor level.

3. Channel Insert Return

  • Patch:

    • From BRP Out to SSL Return (any return).

  • Action Steps:

    • Hit “INS IN” button at the channel.

    • Assign it to the Mix/Rec Bus.

    • Raise channel fader.

    • Select the Mix/Rec Bus fader (if not already selected).

    • Bring up the master fader.

    • Select Monitor Source (Mix or Rec).

    • Select Speaker (mini A).

    • Bring up control room monitor level.

4. Stereo FX Return

  • Patch:

    • From BRP Out to FX TRN (1-4).

  • Action Steps:

    • At stereo return (1-4), assign to Mix.

    • Bring up the control knob at the return.

5. Mix Insert Return

  • Patch:

    • From BRP Out to Mix INS RTN (L/R).

  • Action Steps:

    • At the Master Fader, select the Mix Bus.

    • At the Master Fader, enable the INS Button.

    • Bring up Master Fader.

    • Select Monitor Source (Mix or Rec).

    • Select Speaker (mini A).

    • Bring up control room monitor level.

6. Record Insert Return

  • Patch:

    • From BRP Out to Rec INS RTN (L/R).

  • Action Steps:

    • At the Master Fader, select the Rec Bus.

    • At the Master Fader, enable the INS Button.

    • Assign it to the Mix/Rec Bus.

    • Raise Channel Fader.

    • Select the Mix/Rec Bus fader (if not already selected).

    • Bring up Master fader.

    • Select Monitor Source (Mix or Rec).

    • Select Speaker (mini A).

    • Bring up control room monitor level.

7. EXT A

  • Note:

    • BRP Out is normaled at the Ext A1 input - No patch needed for A1 but can patch to A2 and so on.

  • Action Steps:

    • Select monitor to Ext A.

    • Select Ext A, then BRP.

    • Bring up control room monitor level.

8. EXT B

  • Patch:

    • From BRP Out to Ext B (1-4).

  • Action Steps:

    • Select monitor to Ext B.

    • Select Ext B, then B (1-4).

    • Bring up control room monitor level.

Understanding Signal Types

  • Pre-fader:

    • Signal is INDEPENDENT from the position of the fader; the signal will still come through regardless of fader position.

  • Post-fader:

    • Signal is DEPENDENT on the position of the fader; the signal won't come through unless the fader is up.

    • This will be your source - “This patch does not change.”

    • Specific Patches:

    • From SSL Insert Send to Ext B (1-4)

    • Bring channel fader up.

    • From direct out to Ext B (1-4)

    • Bring channel fader up.

    • From Bus Out (1-8) to Ext B (1-4)

    • From Cue Send to Ext B (1-4)

    • On the channel, enable the Cue knob and bring it up.

    • Note: Cues are PRE by default, but can be made “Post” by hitting the button.

    • From FX Send to Ext B (1-4)

    • On the channel, enable FX Send knob and bring it up.

    • From SSL REC INS SND to Ext B (1-4)

    • On the channel, assign it to the Rec Bus.

    • Bring Channel Fader Up.

    • Select Master Fader to the Rec.

    • Bring Master Fader up.

    • From SSL REC OUT to Ext B (1-4)

    • On the channel, assign it to the Rec Bus.

    • Bring the Channel Fader Up.

    • Select Master Fader to Rec.

    • Bring Master Fader up.

    • Patch from SSL MIX INS SND to Ext B (1-4)

    • On the channel, assign it the Mix Bus.

    • Bring Channel Fader up.

    • Select Master Fader to Mix.

  2. SSL Mix Out (Post)

    • Patch from SSL MIX OUT to Ext B (1-4)

    • On the channel, assign it to the Mix Bus.

    • Bring The Channel Fader Up.

    • Select Master Fader to Mix.

    • Bring Master Fader up.

  3. Foldback A/B

  • Note: Foldback A is broken.

  • Patch:

    • From Foldback B (L/R) to Ext B (1-4).

  • Action Steps:

    • At the channel, enable Cue Send B and bring the knob up.

    • At Foldback B, assign it to Cue B.

    • Bring Foldback B knob up.
