Hello friends, I hope you are having a beautiful start to the autumn season. I know this year has been trying so far but I hope this new season is full of lots of sweet memories. Life can get so hectic but slowing down to enjoy the seasons and simple moments of life has truly made such a positive difference in my life so today I want to take you through my ideal autumn evening and of course not every night looks exactly like this but I wanted to share some ways that we add some little joys and cozy fall flair to our every day. Usually I begin my evening by cooking dinner. I truly love cooking and it's such a great way for me to unwind and have some time away from technology since I spend most of my day on my laptop and my phone and I also feel like cooking and food in general is a great way to celebrate the seasons. Now that it's fall I've been trying to cook with more seasonal items like butternut squash and pumpkin and you better believe I'll be making my fair share of crockpot chili this season. On this particular night I made some pumpkin shaped pasta from Trader Joe's with a butternut squash sauce and a side of sauteed asparagus. While I cook I love to listen to music or a podcast and to get myself in the autumn mood I put on this cozy autumn vibes playlist which I've found so many great fall inspired playlists on Spotify so I'll link a few of my favorites in the description. Another thing I love to do to enhance my cooking experience is to pour myself a nice glass of kombucha in a wine glass which I pretty much do all year round and kombucha really just tastes better and more fancy in a wine glass so why not? And in honor of being festive my husband and I decided to watch Nightmare Before Christmas while we ate our meal. It's been a long time since we last watched this film so it was super fun to remember and rewatch everything that happened and personally I am not a fan of scary movies at all so this is pretty much as scary as it gets for me. I also really love Hocus Pocus and Haunted Mansion but please let me know if you have any other non scary Halloween or fall movie recommendations. In the middle of the movie we took a short intermission to clean up all the dishes and grab some dessert. It always feels so nice to get the dishes out of the way so we don't have to do it after I also lit a couple of unscented candles and turned on my diffuser with some spiced apple cider essential oil. I only light our scented candles when the diffuser is off because sometimes if I have my pumpkin candle and the apple cider essential oil diffusing it can just be an overload of scents so I try to space it out even though I love the smell of both. And for dessert we had some mini pumpkin spice ice cream cones and maple kettle corn which are both from Trader Joe's. Once we finished the movie I took off my jewelry and hopped in the shower. I've been loving this tulip pumpkin sugar scrub to add some autumn aromas to my shower experience. After my shower I put on a cozy sweater and made some harvest blend herbal tea to enjoy as I read. My favorite tea is peppermint but I do enjoy this harvest one as well. It has a lot of different flavor notes but it really just tastes and smells like the season. Before bed I've been trying my best to not go on my phone so this is usually when I read a chapter or two from my book. I truly have been finding so much joy in reading and it's such a beautiful escape in way to unwind. I just finished reading The Woman in the Window which was perfect for this time of year because the story actually begins in late October but it was just not my favorite overall because like I mentioned earlier I'm just not too keen on thrillers and scary things like that so this book had many creepy and unsettling moments so it just overall was not my cup of tea but I'm glad I gave it a chance. While I was reading Brandon was working on his grad school homework and I actually gave him a sip of my tea and he loved it so much so I brewed him a cup as well to enjoy while he was getting his homework done. And lastly to wrap up the night I brushed my teeth and went to bed. I hope you enjoyed this autumn night routine and it inspired you to make the most out of this season. I really do believe that adding little joys and healthy habits to your day is key to creating a happy and balanced life. I'm sending you all love and thank you so much again for watching. Bye!
