Meeting 9

Feedback from Pretesting

  • Wording of Questions: There was confusion regarding the wording of some questions, particularly those phrased as "I enjoy other genres more than the thriller genre."
    • The professor had reworded them, and the instruction was to follow her edits.
  • "Prefer Not to Say" Option: Suggestion to add a "prefer not to say" option in the demographic section.
    • Decision: Add "prefer not to say" option.
    • Considered adding "NA" for age if participants prefer not to answer, instead of making the question required.
  • Horror vs. Thriller: One person suggested choosing between horror and thriller, but horror is a subcategory of thriller, so the feedback was dismissed.

Review of Changes and Updates

  • Title Page: Changed to "The Personality Survey."
  • Informed Consent: Addressed and updated by Mia.
  • Demographic Questions: Changed to open-ended questions; Jose made the changes.
  • Debriefing/Participation: To be updated.
  • Official Measures: Updated to reflect changes.

    • Include options like male, female, nonbinary, prefer not to say, and not listed for the gender question.
  • Screenshots are not allowed; list all possible answers instead.

Methods Section

  • Carissa will go through everyone's methods sections and select the best sentences to compile.
  • Materials and procedure descriptions need to be thorough.
  • Ensure everything is in past tense, following the structure of the example paper.

Age Ranges for Table

  • Initial age ranges: 18-20, 21-25, 26-30, and over 30 (copied from the example).
  • Discussed adjusting age ranges based on the distribution of responses to create roughly equal groups.

Post-Following Tasks

  • Post the updated version of the group's official measure files.
  • Address what content from the first draft should be in the final draft.
    • Consensus that Carissa gets to decide.
  • Each member posts feedback received during the meeting and the data file from pretests.
  • Logan will delete pretest responses on Saturday night.
  • Someone needs to make the official post on behalf of the group; Carissa volunteered if possible.

Miscellaneous Discussion

  • The group waited for Daniel and Mia to join to take a screenshot.
  • The members talked about their weekends and various topics such as going to a saloon and watching movies.
