• Outline and demonstrate techniques for map skills mastery.

Geography Tools

• Maps and Globes (Cartographs): Created representations of the world for navigation and information.

  • Globe: A spherical replica of the Earth.

  • Map: A flat representation tailored for a specific purpose, showing roads, buildings, boundaries, agriculture, industry, points of interest, geographic features.

Understanding Compass Directions

• Essential for map navigation.

• Main directions: North, South, East, West.

Map Symbols and Key

• Map Key/Legend: Explains the colors, symbols, and information on the map.

Kinds of Maps

• Physical Maps: Show landforms, water bodies.

• Political Maps: Display boundaries of nations, states.

• Topographical/Contour Maps: Show elevation and terrain using contour lines.

• Thematic Maps: Focus on specific themes (e.g., Population Maps, Climate Maps, Weather Maps).
