The nature of God

Muslims believe that Allah has 99 names which can help them understand his qualities and nature. Many Muslims memorise the names of God and recite them when praying.

Immanent: Within all things and close to his people

Transcendent: Beyond all things, cannot be pictured

Omnipotent: All powerful

Omniscient: All knowing

Beneficent: Loving and the source of all goodness

Merciful: He understands peoples suffering and is forgiving

Just: He will judge fairly on the Day of Judgement
