Embalming an Autopsied Case

Pre-Inject

  1. Sanitize remains; position appropriately

  2. remove all sutures and disinfectant spray; remove viscera bag

  3. locate and inspect arteries

  4. Feature set

  5. Mix fluids

    1. stronger solution

    2. chose co-injects (case analysis)

Injection

Lower extremities

  • drainage removed by postmortem aspirator to prevent HCHO exposure

  • massage legs and feet to promote distribution and drainage

  • ½ Gal to 2 Gal can be injected
