Consequences

Religious conflict: Large number of English and Scottish Protestant settlers arrived in Ulster, eventually resulting in a Protestant majority. This deepened religious divsion in Ireland and created conflict and war between Catholics and Protestant. Eg. The Troubles

Culture and political change: English common law replaced traditional Brehon law and English became the dominant language in Ireland, while the Irish language declined. Other components of English culture such as farming methods were also brought to Ireland.

New towns and economy: Settlers built new towns such as Derry, with markets, a road system and built industries. Ulster became much more urbanised and developed compared to the rest of Ireland.
