    The Silk Road was a series of tracks (paths/roads) that coveredmore than 9 600km (1/4 of the globe)

From Europe and the Mediterranean:

  • Fabric

  • Pottery

  • Gold

  • Silver

  • Precious stones

From China:

  • Perfume

  • Silk

  • Tea

  • Spices

  • Paper

  • Fireworks

  • Gunpowder

Fall of the Silk Road

    By the 15th Century (1400s) the Silk Road was becoming less and less important. With demand for travelling to the East, Europe set out to find a sea route to avoid the long and dangerous journey. Eventually they discovered the Cape of Good Hope.

    By the end of the 16th century, countries shifted their focus to the Americas (new world)
