Development Indicators and GNI

Development Indicators

  • There is no single way to measure a country's development level. Development indicators provide some insight.

Gross National Income (GNI) per capita

  • GNI per capita is the total value of all goods and services produced within a country in a year, plus income from abroad, divided by the number of people living in that country.

  • GNI per capita facilitates wealth comparison between different countries.

  • However, it only provides an average income. The wealth distribution within the country might be unequal, with some earning significantly more than others.
