Reading Material Analysis, SP3R Question Formulation, and D2L Document Submission Guidelines

Reading Material and Question Generation Guidelines

  • Identification of Non-Heading Elements:

    • Sections phrased as questions, such as "Did you know?", are not classified as headings because the answer is provided directly beneath them. Questions must not be generated for pre-existing questions.

    • Materials previously completed as demonstrative examples, such as the "split neck scan" section under the "invention of the Internet" reading material, are excluded from question creation.

  • Target Headings and Keyword Requirements:

    • birth of the arvinet: Formulate a question that explicitly incorporates the main key words "birth" and "arvinet".

    • Log Log: Formulate a question based on this heading, paying attention to structural clues resembling quotation marks. It is standard and expected to alter the initial question after reading the section content.

    • The network grows: Formulate a reading question corresponding to this heading.

    • The web. World: Formulate the final question for this concluding section.

  • SP3R Methodology and Response Structure:

    • Apply the SP3R framework by writing out each generated question and supplying a complete answer underneath it.

Note Formatting and Document Submission Requirements

  • Layout Options:

    • Creating online Cornell notes using columns or two-column formatting is not required.

    • Typing out the question and placing the corresponding answer directly underneath is fully acceptable.

  • Learning Management System (D2L) Software Compatibility:

    • Microsoft Word (Microsoft 365): Highly compatible with D2L, allowing files to be opened and viewed without error. Access to Microsoft 365 is held by at least three individuals in the course.

    • Google Docs: Accessible and openable by D2L, but subject to specific privacy rules.

    • Privacy Warning: Personal Google accounts should never be used for class documents. Sharing documents via personal accounts risks exposing personal access and information to unknown individuals.

    • Approved Google Account: Always use the official Google Docs account provided through HACC.

    • Apple Pages: Mac software file format that is completely incompatible with D2L. Documents

    • submitted in Pages format literally cannot be opened by the system.
