Why I Should Take 7th Grade Math Instead of 7th Grade Honors
Dear Teacher,
I believe that I should enroll in 7th grade math instead of 7th grade honors because I truly want to thrive in a supportive environment. While I am somewhat confident in my math skills, I recognize that honors might be more challenging than I am ready for at this time. In regular math, I will have more opportunities to solidify my understanding of key concepts at a comfortable pace, giving me the chance to master the material without feeling overwhelmed. This would help me build a strong foundation for future math classes.
Furthermore, I am considering my future at Langston Hughes Middle School, and how I feel about it right now. I have realized that I don’t want to continue going to this school if I am under too much pressure. I would like to enjoy my learning experience and feel successful instead of constantly stressed. By taking the 7th grade math course, I believe I can focus more on collaboration with classmates and less on competitiveness. This supportive atmosphere is what I need to inspire my love for learning and help me to do my best.
Lastly, adjusting my math course will allow me to have a better experience in school overall, which ultimately leads to improved performance in other subjects as well. I want to feel confident and excited about my studies, and having a less stressful math experience can positively affect my mood and engagement with all my classes. Therefore, I kindly request consideration to enroll in 7th grade math and not the honors track. Thank you for listening to my concerns!
