Warrior Hockey - Layered Defensive Zone coverage = Protect the House

D1: ATTACK puck carrier aggressively; ALWAYS between him and the net; don't get lost/spun

C: Third Dman; support D1 by ATTACKING puck, ALWAYS between puck carrier and the net; always win the loose puck and go the other way with wingers; IMPORTANT: Fill positional gaps when a winger chases or flies the zone

D2: Protect the net front; battle, keep net front player out of Goalie's way/line of sight; head on a swivel for back door pass

W: Post up between your point man and the faceoff dot; inside-out defense; keep the play to outside, DO NOT let puck carrier get through high danger area; make them pass to the point or throw it back down low but DO NOT GIVE UP THE HOUSE; active stick, intercept point pass if you can and go the other way

• LW: Slot/High Slot; head on a swivel for back door; square up on your point man; active stick; read play by RW; if he wins battle. anticipate and look to go the other way; DO NOT LEAVE EARLY; defend first
