LAB SAFETY RULES (Already know this)
Rule #1: Wear Safety goggles at all times (Protects eyes from chemicals, heat and broken glass)
Rule #2: No eating, drinking or chewing gum in the lab (Chemicals can spill)
Rule #3: Tie back long hair and secure loose clothing
Rule #4: Never run, play or fool around in the lab
Rule #5: Never touch equipment or chemicals without permission (Some chemicals can burn skin)
Rule #6: Report all accidents immediately
LAB EQUIPMENT
Beaker: Used to hold, mix or heat liquids, and it’s not used for accurate measuring.
Graduated Cylinder: Used to measure volume of liquids accurately.
Test Tube: Used to hold small amounts of substances, usually liquids
Test Tube Holder: Used to hold a hot test tube or one being heated.
Test Tube Rack
Function: holds test tubes upright
Memory trick: Parking lot for tubes

Function: cleans test tubes

Long skinny brush → fits inside tubes.
7. Beaker Tongs
Function: holds hot beakers

Function: holds hot crucibles

Sharper ends → for tiny, VERY hot items.

Meaning: container can explode if heated or punctured
Examples: aerosol cans, hairspray
Memory trick: looks like a bomb exploding.
2. Flammable
Meaning: product can catch fire easily
Examples: gasoline, BBQ starter
Memory trick: flame = fire hazard.
3. Corrosive
Meaning: burns skin, eyes, clothing, metal
Examples: drain cleaner, oven cleaner
Memory trick: liquid eating through a hand + metal.
4. Poisonous
Meaning: can cause serious harm or death if swallowed
Examples: antifreeze, rat poison
