Chi-Square Test

Evaluate whether observed frequencies for a nominal variable(s) are adequately described by hypothesized or expected frequencies.

One Nominal Variable

Tests whether the proportion of people across categories in the sample fit/match the null hypothesized proportion of people

“Good” fit = retain the null

“Bad” fit = reject the null

Expected (by the null) Frequency - The hypothesized frequency for each category, given that the null hypothesis is true
