Popular Sovereignty: A government in which people have the right to vote and change their gov. if it abuses their power.
Republicanism: A form of government in which people exercise their power by voting for a political representative.
Individual Rights: People have rights, liberties, and privileges.
Limited Government: Government has limited power. This means that even government officials must follow the law.
Separation of Powers: When the power is divided among the three branches of government.
Checks and Balances: When three branches of government have the power to check the other branches. This prevents any one branch form becoming too powerful.
Federalism: The power to govern is shared between the national and state government.
