- They thrive on media attention, pursuit by police, and evading authorities
- The thrill seeker keeps news clippings of their murders and often keep a record of their killing
- Mission Oriented → they believes that they are doing society a favor by getting rid of people like prostitutes
- Power and Control → they are motivated by the thrill of seeing their victim cowering in fear or screaming
- Some are known to go back to the place where they kid the body or committed the crime in order to feel the rush they got from killing
- Souvenirs and Trophies → belongings from their victims
- Serial killers often keep the belongings of their victims. Experts on serial killers break these collections into two categories
- Souvenirs → items that are put in the drawer and forgotten about. They are taken out periodically to remember the kills
- Trophies → these items are displayed in plain view and serve as a shrine or trophy
- Posing → Posing a dead body in a certain position
- Serial killers often have a signature or certain hebavior that occurs in each murder
- One of the most common signatures of a serial killer is posing the body
- Only 1% of murder cases that are not serial killers involve posting the body
