Current in Series Circuits

The components in a simple electrical circuits:

If we close the switch then electrons will flow out of the cell and they move around the circuits we call this flow of electrons an electric current .
The electric current flows from the negative end of the cell to the positive end.(electrons are negative )
The electrons are carrying energy from the cell.
They pass this energy to the components in the circuit such as the lamp.
In the lamp the electrical energy is transferred to light energy and thermal energy.
When the electrons return to the positive end of the cell, they are carrying less energy than when they left the negative end.

Many years ago scientists thought the current flowed from the positive end of the cell to the negative end we now know that that's incorrect but we still draw the electric current in that direction like this we call this the conventional current .
This is a series circuit. It has no branches. The current can only flow in one path .
Current
An electric current is a flow of electric charge around a circuit.
The unit of electric current is the ampere
(A). This can be shortened to amp.
