Final Groups
● Medellin Cartel - Pablo Escobar's cartel that used kickbacks, threats, and extreme violence to persuade the Columbian government against arresting or extraditing cartel members.
● Cali Cartel - after escolars death it became Columba's major drug cartel. This cartel is a loose alliance of five major trafficking groups joined by the kinship. Imports tons of drugs into queens, NY in the 90'S. The independent cell structure was hard to investigate.
● Sinaloa Cartel - considered the most powerful drug trafficking organization in the world. Also known as "the federation" and the "blood alliance" continues to import weed, herion, meth, and coke into the US while continuing high profile kidnappings within Mexico. Leader is Joaquin "el chappo" Guzman. Continues to be a major threat to the US.
● Juárez Cartel - currently in a war with the Sinaloa cartel over territory. Has a long history of corrupting or intimidating high ranking officials in Mexico. in the 2000s they extended operations from solely drug smuggling to human trafficking too. The group continues to operate along the Texas boarder.
● Odessa Mafia - the most popular Russian organized crime group in America. The mafia operates from Brighton beach, New York, was involved in drug trafficking, credit card fraud, human trafficking, tax fraud, and extortion.
● Vory - Russian organized crime group which developed among individuals in soviet prison camps. The Vory has infiltrated every aspect of Russia and the former soviet republic's economics
● La Cosa Nostra - can be traced back to the 1800s. Italian mafia in New York. Structured in families..
● Outfit - Italian mafia in Chicago. Structured in street crews.
● Triads - dominant Chinese organized crime group involved in human trafficking of women across Asia and the US, counterfeiting, drug trafficking, and white collar crime. Secret society turned criminal. Hong Kong became the headquarters of the triads and membership reached close to 300,000 people.
● Yakuza - 300 year old Japanese organize crime group. Involved in real estate fraud, human trafficking, prostitution, illegal gambling and extortion. Approxemently 50,000 - 100,000 members. Blends in society by owning legitimate businesses. Dangerous transnational organized crime syndicate, which blends legitimate and legitimate businesses together.
● Weather Underground - left wing terrorist group. Founded on the Ann Arbor campus of the university of Michigan in 1969. at first the group demonstrated against the Vietnam war, however the group conducted a campaign of bombings through the mid 1970s.
