Hypothesis

How to write a hypothesis:

  1. Identivy the conditions of the iv and dv

  2. Decide wether you want one or two tailed

  3. Insert iv conditions and dv into the writing frame

  4. Alter wording so it reads correctly

Alternate hypothesis:

Participants who [ iv condition 1] will … significantly more/less [dv] than participants who [condition 2] One tailed hypothesis

There will be a significant difference in the [ dv] if the participants in [ iv condition 1] compared to participants [ iv condition2] Two tailed hypothesis

Null hypothesis

There will be no significant difference in the [dv] of the participants [ condition 1] compared to participants [conditon 2]. Any difference will be due to chance.

A hypothesis is a testable statement which specifies what is going to be tested and how it will be measured. It’s a prediction of the difference or relationship between 2 variables.
