Benefits Offered - emphasizing the INTANGIBLE benefits of the product to customers
User Classes - once someone uses the product, they become a certain kind of people(someone wearing a Rolex will make you think the person’s rich)
Product Classes - putting the product within a certain category
Against Competitors - you market the product the same way another company does
highlights the unique selling points when doing so
Away from Competitors - looking for a different way to market your products(e.g. Tesla markets their electric cars, but they focus on the environmental aspect more compared to other companies)
Usage Occasions - positioning the product on when and how it’s used(e.g. Gatorade is highlighted as a sports drink)
