Required practical Microscopes

  1. Slide is placed on stage and clipped in
  • usually has 3 different objective lenses of 4x, 10x, and 40x
  • the eyepiece lens also has a magnification of 10x
  1. Select lowest power objective lens (4x)
  2. Position the lens so it almost touches the microscope slide by adjusting the coarse focussing dial (make sure you don’t look through the eyepiece when changing the objective lens)
  3. Now look through the lens and adjust the the coarse focussing dial until the cells come into focus
  4. Then adjust the fine focussing knob to give yourself a clear image of the cells.
