Life on planet earth (attempt 2)

The planet earth is the only planet where organisms exist.

Organisms live in habitats. A habitat is the place or environment where an organism usually lives. Habitas can either be aquatic habitats which are on water or terrestrial habitats which are on land.

The planet earth can be divided into 2 categories of spheres, either based on the outside of earth or the inside and on the earth.

The spheres outside the earth, from lowest to highest:

Troposphere. Contains the weather

Stratosphere. Contains the ozone layer

Mesosphere. Contains the stars

Thermosphere. Contains a very hot temperature

Exosphere. The sphere the furthest away

The spheres from inside the earth:

The hydrosphere is all the water on earth, which is 97% salt/ocean water and 3% fresh water, including the sea, clouds, or water in the soil.

Positive human effects on the hydrosphere: Fish sanctuaries

Negative human effects on the hydrosphere: Oil spills

The lithosphere is the outer rock layer of earth, including mountains, caves, and minerals. It can be divided into 2 categories: oceanic lithosphere, which is under water (not underwater), or continental lithosphere, which is under ground (not underground).

Positive human effects on the lithosphere: Planting trees

Negative human effects on the lithosphere: Mining

The atmosphere is all the gas surrounding the earth attracted by gravity. It is made of 78% nitrogen, 21% oxygen, and 1% other gases. It blocks the sun from its UV light and keeps us warm by vibrating with each other.

Positive human effects on the atmosphere: Planting trees

Negative human effects on the atmosphere: Driving gas cars

The biosphere is where all life exists, including the 3 other spheres.

All the organisms can be divided into 6 kingdoms:

Animals. Example: Cat, dog, moose

Plants. Example: Leaf, tree, bush

Fungi. Example: Mushroom, Mold, Toe fungus, yeast

Protists. Example: Kelp, algae, amoeba

Bacteria. Example: e coli, salmonella, lactobacillus, strep

Archaebacteria. Example: extremophiles, methanobacteria
