How to SAQ

2 types of SAQs

Stimulus SAQs will be given with a graph, chart, image, etc where you will answer 3 questions A,B,C

Non Stimulus SAQs you will not be given anything and just told to answer 3 questions

write 2-3 complete sentences

step 1 understand stimulus and the prompts

• Read the prompts they give you first before analyzing the stimulus

• Annotate the prompts by category of what they’re asking to write, time period they want and the historical thinking skill you need to answer it.

• Then after marking up the prompts you can look at the stimulus and annotate and highlight key things you need to answer it

Step 2 answer

• Topic sentence that restates important parts of prompt and names a piece of evidence. Ex: One important part of the social change underwent in the 2nd Great Awakening was the rise of church memberships.

• Explain the evidence ex: The second great awakening was a period of religious revivals and reforms all spread throughout america. The ideas of the 2nd Great Awakening were spread through camp meetings where a preacher would meet with a audience.

• Connect the evidence ( show HOW it relates to the topic) ex: The camp meetings helped the spread of religious ideals which directly influenced church memberships because of more people being exposed to these religious thoughts hence influencing belief systems which increased church memberships.
