The Carbon Cycle

L.G. Describe the cycle of carbon between Earths Spheres.

Create a row chart to represent a carbon pathway in the carbon cycle.

Cognigative Verbs = E.g. Decribe, create

Why:

  • Trees breath in carbon dioxide and release vital oxygen

  • Carbon is used to create objects

  • Carbon is used for DNA

The Carbon Cycle

L.G. Describe the cycle of carbon between Earths spheres. Create a row chart to represent a carbon pathway in the carbon cycle

Different types of spheres:

Atmosphere (Air), Hydrosphere (Water), Biosphere (Living Things), Lithosphere (Rocks and soil)

Types of processes:

  • Atmosphere produces carbon to plants for photosynthesis

  • Plants fo through respiration biosphere - atmosphere

  • Burning coal = Combustion biosphere - atmosphere

  • Water evapourates hydrosphere - atmosphere

  • Diffusion happens when carbon dioxide turns back into water atmosphere - hydrosphere

  • Respiration - aniamls breathing biosphere - atmosphere

  • Animals die and turn into soil - Decomposition

  • Volcanos releasing carbon dioxide into the air - Valconism geosphere - atmsophere

Definitions:

  • Respiration (Animals) - Exchange of gages through breathing

  • Respiration (Plants) - Breaking down sugars using oxygen

  • Photosynthesis - The synthesis of complete organis materials

  • Combustion - The act or proccess of burning

  • Diffusion - Dissolving gaseous carbon dioxide

  • Evaportation - the process by which a liquid changes into a gas or vapor at its surface, usually below the boiling point.

  • Decompose - to break down, decay, or rot organic matter through natural chemical processes, or to separate a complex substance into its simpler constituent parts.
